Highwood USA is a rapidly growing plastics extrusion company located in Hometown, PA. We offer tremendous opportunities to motivated employees. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to assist in all aspects of the manufacturing process, including developing new furniture fabrication capabilities. The ideal candidate will be familiar with woodworking, plastics, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.


2nd shift

The Team Manager has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations and supervision of the hourly team members.

Responsibilities: Working with the teams in setting goals, tracking results, and developing improvement plans in the areas of Safety, Quality, Yield, and Productivity. Ensuring that the teams have the necessary skills, resources, and tools to achieve the desired goals. In addition, the Team Manager has the responsibility to implement High Performance Work Team behaviors that allow the teams to become self-directed and develop leadership skills within the team.

To be successful the individual must demonstrate strong leadership qualities such as;

  • Being committed to making positive change, but remaining flexible along the way.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with technicians and the management team.
  • Willingness take on a broad range of responsibilities including managing people, processes, and tasks.

Qualifications: Experience leading in a team-based environment required. Extrusion experience a plus. Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent management experience.



This individual will be responsible for designing mechanical parts, assemblies and systems to meet customer requirements. Researching components and other aspects of design. Providing engineering support and guidance to manufacturing organization. Managing the NPD process by maintaining effective communication with management, sales, production, procurement, and quality organizations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design of the mechanical aspects of outdoor furniture and spa cabinets.
  • Interface with customers to provide design engineering support for new products.
  • Interface with vendors for new designs or issue resolution with existing designs.
  • Building prototypes as proof of design concept.
  • Develop product documentation and specifications.
  • Provide customers with conceptual drawings and solid models.
  • Support new products from design stage through volume manufacturing.
  • Provide engineering support to production team for existing products.
  • Provide training as needed to technicians and manufacturing personnel.
  • Participate in cost and waste reduction efforts including product / process improvements.
  • Evaluate and make engineering recommendations for new production capital equipment.

Qualifications: A minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering with three (3) years of design experience. Experience with 3D CAD/solid design (AutoCad Inventor, Solid Works or Pro Engineer) required. Finite element modeling is a plus. Experience with manufacturing processes including CNC routing, profile extrusion, fabrication and assembly is a plus.



The designer will be part of the New Product Development team and will explore a wide variety of compelling design options. The designer will communicate concepts and ideas through verbal, visual and written forms, and develop design options through sketching, 3D CAD modeling, rendering or physical mock ups.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptual development of outdoor furniture and spa cabinet products.
  • Ability to interact effectively with engineering, sales & marketing, manufacturing, and customers among others in the development of new products.
  • Produce quality, creative, and innovative designs with an eye on the marketplace.
  • Research market for theme attributes including form, colors, materials, finishes, and textures.
  • Design focus should also include the human factor and ergonomics with an understanding of consumer’s needs and user behavior.
  • Preparation of inspiration boards, materials, and models for customer presentations and trade shows.
  • Prepare and coordinate prototype samples.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A BS in Industrial Design or equivalent. Experience with 3D CAD/solid design (AutoCad Inventor, Solid Works or Pro Engineer) required. Demonstrates talent through portfolio.



Responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing process including design and development of new work cells with LEAN principles built into the design. Initiate and lead development including tooling/fixture design and process automation. Provide technical support and training on manufacturing process. Responsible for developing, maintaining and updating all documentation required to support the manufacturing process. Develop CAD drawings and hands on involvement in all aspects of project completions.

Manage projects to acquire and install new equipment and/or to upgrade existing equipment, including development and management of budget and ROI analysis. Evaluate equipment and work with vendors to recommend appropriate modifications and/or new equipment. Support the installation, modification of equipment and roll out to operations.

Identify and implement product improvements related to design, assembly, and packaging. Apply Lean principle in resolving manufacturing issues, supporting changeover and setup improvements. Lead efforts in the implementation of continuous improvement activities to increase capacity, correct issues, improve equipment and production efficiency and improve yield and product quality.

Qualifications: A minimum of a BS in Engineering with three (3) years of manufacturing experience, strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite is required. Furniture fabrication and automation experience a plus.



The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for purchasing, production planning, shipping, receiving, & inventory/warehouse, logistics, and supplier relationships.

Deliverables & Responsibilities

Develop and optimize company’s Supply Chain Systems and Processes

  • Develop & implement effective supply chain strategy across new and existing products
  • Achieve financial objectives by working with management team to prepare budget, schedule expenditures, and participate in making cross-functional operations decisions
  • Responsible for inventory optimization to meet customer demand forecasts
  • Leads and improves Demand Planning/Management
  • Sets and communicates clear vision for Supply Chain, and develops strategy to work towards vision

Develop and manage cross-functional, fully integrated planning processes to meet inventory targets

  • Monitor and proactively manage inventory from raw materials through finished product, including communication on product flows, schedules, and potential delivery issues
  • MRP/ERP management for optimum inventory, forecasting, purchasing, material control process support
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy/turns by identifying variances and corrective actions to ensure proper training or processes are in place.

Procurement, Sourcing and Logistics

  • Identify, develop, and manage vendor relationships that support company’s supply chain strategy
  • Establish, implement, and manage system for supplier performance tracking
  • Develop & execute sourcing strategy that supports a cost reduction plan while ensuring quality of products
  • Leads and improves Order Management best practices, processes and policies
  • Leads and improves Tactical Purchasing in conjunction with the sourcing team to reduce lead times and improve material quality and costs
  • Leads and improves Distribution & Logistics practices and network optimization including picking, packing and shipping, distribution center management and transportation management.

Build and lead a highly performing team

Qualifications (Education, Experience & Skills)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and 3-5 years of supply chain experience (i.e. Purchasing/Sourcing/Planning
  • Experience with ERP/MRP system a must
  • Demonstrated manufacturing process knowledge (i.e. plastic extrusion and/or assembly a plus)
  • Prior experience with international vendor relationships
  • Analytical, data driven approach with an attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience in a strong lean manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to set and communicate a vision
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with proven ability for optimal arrangement for both parties.
  • Ability to multi-task and easily deal with deadlines and multiples priorioties
  • Computer skills; email & general business software (e.g. MS Office, Outlook, etc.)


1st Shift

Primary 1st shift, but during peak season, will be expected to flex to 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsible for the entire process associated with fabricating furniture and panels from raw material handling through QA and packing finished product.

  • Can operate hand tools and power tools, including but not limited to drill/screw gun, staple gun, brad nailed, router and chop saw.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team based environment where decision making is at the team level.
  • Recognizes and acts upon what needs to be done with little to no supervision.
  • Motivated to increase skills and progress in pay levels.

  • Prior CNC experience a plus.
  • Woodworking or cabinetry skills a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED required


Full Time
2nd or 3Rd shift
8 hour shifts Monday - Friday

Responsibilities include:

  • Operation of compound and profile extrusion lines from start up through packaging of finished product
  • Color and tool changeovers
  • Understanding of quality specifications and performance/documentation of quality checks
  • Basic maintenance such as inspection, care and cleaning of equipment
  • Trouble shooting of equipment and process issues
  • Participation in continuous improvement projects/teams
  • Complete and accurate documentation of production, scrap, run conditions, and other key data
  • Ability to learn and use a computer at a basic level
  • Packing, banding and wrapping finished product
  • Forklift operation
  • Ability to pass color-blindness test

Qualifications: Extrusion Experience a plus. High School Diploma or GED required as well as ability to work well in teams.
