3rd Shift

Position Summary:

Successful Logistics Technicians enjoy the challenges of working in a fast paced, team oriented environment while safely completing the processes associated with shipping, receiving and warehousing products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Safely operate multiple types of lift trucks and pallet jacks
  • Perform daily forklift checklist
  • Stage orders/loading trucks
  • Assist receiving
  • Load/unload pallets as needed
  • Ensure order numbers match with bill before completing loading process
  • Ability to read and understand pick slip/ticket
  • Fulfill out bound orders
  • Successfully complete late pickups independently
  • Transfer finished products from production or staging areas into our customer/item based storage racking system
  • Prepare and shipping customer samples UPS/FED EX
  • Accurate completion of Bill of Ladings and printing BOL’s from IQMS
  • Obtain freight quotes
  • Making inventory moves/adjustments in IQMS
  • Track/order shipping supplies and packaging items
  • Complete PO’s in IQMS
  • Calculate requires truck space and cube out volume shipments
  • Populate production reports in order to accurately label furniture items in IQMS
  • Ability to learn and successfully use an RF scan gun
  • Manage and organize floor space constraints vs. inventory levels
  • Consolidate and organize staging areas in production area
  • Ensure shipping requirements meet customer specifications, including stacking heights, pallet requirements, and banding
  • Perform monthly physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods and cycle counts
  • Continuously clean and organize dock and aisle areas
  • Rotate and replenish inventory stock to keep lower racking full
  • Cut down or pull current in-stock items to fill small orders
  • Double checking information of pallets in the finished goods staging area and move them into proper inventory location
  • Response to shipping door and governor visitors in the shipping area

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud and PPE is required. Appropriate hearing protection while in the plant is required as noise levels within the facility meet OSHA requirements for hearing protection equipment. Full Time

We are currently seeking a Cost Accountant to lead all aspects of accounting. This individual reports directly to the Leadership Team, and is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions (GL, A/R, A/P, Fixed assets, Costing, and Inventory), as well as supporting Operations and Sales with analyses of product costs, process constraints, and value stream costing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review & post A/P Invoices, A/R Receipts, Inventory transactions on daily basis
  • Reconcile A/P, A/R, accrued receipts, and inventory accounts; explore variances, fix issues
  • Generate GL entries for periodic transactions
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Coordinate cycle counts & investigates root cause of variances
  • Roll standard costs and update standard costs in Bills of Materials
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies; fix root causes
  • Perform month-end close process
  • Track inventory turns and identify improvement opportunities
  • Develop & maintain internal controls to ensure security of data and funds
  • Analyze manufacturing costs & determine most accurate methods for calculating costs and implement changes
  • Work with IT to adopt new ERP modules, leveraging the system to automate business processes
  • Analyze capital projects & make recommendations on project viability

This position is integral to the efficient operation of Highwood’s manufacturing operations, and involved in all aspects of the company’s finances.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 Years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Cost accounting experience preferred
  • Very Strong computer & analytical skills
  • Experience with ERP system; MIS background
  • Crystal Reports experience is a plus
  • Lean Mfg/continuous improvement experience is a plus




The designer will be part of the New Product Development team and will explore a wide variety of compelling design options. The designer will communicate concepts and ideas through verbal, visual and written forms, and develop design options through sketching, 3D CAD modeling, rendering or physical mock ups.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptual development of outdoor furniture and spa cabinet products.
  • Ability to interact effectively with engineering, sales & marketing, manufacturing, and customers among others in the development of new products.
  • Produce quality, creative, and innovative designs with an eye on the marketplace.
  • Research market for theme attributes including form, colors, materials, finishes, and textures.
  • Design focus should also include the human factor and ergonomics with an understanding of consumer’s needs and user behavior.
  • Preparation of inspiration boards, materials, and models for customer presentations and trade shows.
  • Prepare and coordinate prototype samples.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A BS in Industrial Design or equivalent. Experience with 3D CAD/solid design (AutoCad Inventor, Solid Works or Pro Engineer) required. Demonstrates talent through portfolio.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with woodworking, plastics, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

This individual will be responsible for designing mechanical parts, assemblies and systems to meet customer requirements. Researching components and other aspects of design. Providing engineering support and guidance to manufacturing organization. Managing the NPD process by maintaining effective communication with management, sales, production, procurement, and quality organizations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design of the mechanical aspects of outdoor furniture and spa cabinets.
  • Interface with customers to provide design engineering support for new products.
  • Interface with vendors for new designs or issue resolution with existing designs.
  • Building prototypes as proof of design concept.
  • Develop product documentation and specifications.
  • Provide customers with conceptual drawings and solid models.
  • Support new products from design stage through volume manufacturing.
  • Provide engineering support to production team for existing products.
  • Provide training as needed to technicians and manufacturing personnel.
  • Participate in cost and waste reduction efforts including product / process improvements.
  • Evaluate and make engineering recommendations for new production capital equipment.

Qualifications: A minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering with three (3) years of design experience. Experience with 3D CAD/solid design (AutoCad Inventor, Solid Works or Pro Engineer) required. Finite element modeling is a plus. Experience with manufacturing processes including CNC routing, profile extrusion, fabrication and assembly is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and development of new work cells using Lean principles.
  • Initiate and lead development including tooling/fixture design and process automation.
  • Provide technical support and training on manufacturing process.
  • Developing, maintaining and updating all documentation required to support the manufacturing process.
  • Develop CAD drawings and hands on involvement in all aspects of project completions.
  • Manage projects to acquire and install new equipment and/or to upgrade existing equipment, including development and management of budget and ROI analysis.
  • Evaluate equipment and work with vendors to recommend appropriate modifications and/or new equipment. Support the installation, modification of equipment and roll out to operations.
  • Identify and implement product improvements related to design, assembly, and packaging.
  • Apply Lean principle in resolving manufacturing issues, supporting changeover and setup improvements.
  • Lead efforts in the implementation of continuous improvement activities to increase capacity, correct issues, improve equipment and production efficiency and improve yield and product quality.

Qualifications: A minimum of a BS in Engineering with three (3) years of manufacturing experience, strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite is required. Lean certification or equivalent experience. Furniture fabrication, CNC machining and automation experience a plus.



Part Time

Highwood USA is seeking an Engineering Intern student to assist with manufacturing improvement projects. We are a rapidly growing plastics extrusion and manufacturing company in Hometown PA. The Engineering Intern will perform activities concerned with design, development, testing, and implementation of equipment upgrades and product development. The position will report directly to the Plant Engineer and will assist in performing engineering analysis, developing CAD Drawings, and generating new ideas for improvements.

Projects include:

  • Improvements to equipment in furniture manufacturing cell.
  • Assist with implementing Lean Manufacturing Tools
  • Assist with the development of new product prototypes.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software

Highwood is seeking an Electrical Mechanical Technician to help support recently added CNC machinery and to expand our industrial automation capability.

We are a rapidly growing plastics Extrusion Company located in Hometown, Pa., who manufactures our own products from these extrudates.

The Electrical Mechanical Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of production and plant support equipment. They will report to the Maintenance Manager. Their responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic equipment.

Experience repairing CNC equipment is a must. Experience with robotic equipment is a definite plus, but must be willing to learn. The individual must be able to repair all types of equipment failures including PLC, VFD, and be proficient with the use of diagnostic instruments.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-starter, able to work unsupervised, lead projects and meet deadlines. We are a 5 day operation; however, this candidate must be able to work occasional overtime as needed. This includes weekends, working off shift or modified shifts as situations arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Diagnose problems with PLCs and complex control systems
  • Work safely in a Team Environment, and adhere to Highwood’s safety regulations, as well as compliances mandated by federal, state, and local regulations
  • Develop and perform Preventative Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment and perform Root Cause Analysis
  • Assist with design, assembly, and installation of electrical mechanical equipment
  • Prepare requisitions for spare parts, project parts, and maintenance supplies
  • Understand and use blue prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic
  • Work from prints, sketches and verbal instructions
  • Install electrical or electronic hardware
  • Analyze and record test results, and prepare written test documentation

Job Requirements

  • Degree or Certificate in a related field required or a minimum of 3-5 years equivalent experience/working knowledge
  • Proficient with using testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing electronics, instrumentation, motors, machinery, etc.
  • Experience trouble-shooting, testing and calibrating equipment
  • Excellent problem solving, judgment, decision making and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft® office suite products.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities include:

  • Operation of compound and profile extrusion lines from start up through packaging of finished product
  • Color and tool changeovers
  • Understanding of quality specifications and performance/documentation of quality checks
  • Basic maintenance such as inspection, care and cleaning of equipment
  • Trouble shooting of equipment and process issues
  • Participation in continuous improvement projects/teams
  • Complete and accurate documentation of production, scrap, run conditions, and other key data
  • Ability to learn and use a computer at a basic level
  • Packing, banding and wrapping finished product
  • Forklift operation
  • Ability to pass color-blindness test


Extrusion Experience a plus. High School Diploma or GED required as well as ability to work well in teams.

Responsible for the entire process associated with fabricating furniture and panels from raw material handling through QA and packing finished product.

Can operate hand tools and power tools, including but not limited to drill/screw gun, staple gun, brad nailed, router, chop saw.

Responsible for producing, designing, crafting, and testing furniture wood products using specialized tools.

  • Design, produce, and test wood products.
  • Build furniture using hand tools.
  • Use automated machinery, such as computerized numerical control (CNC) machines.
  • Perform work in high production assembly line facility.
  • Set up, operate, and tend drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood-nailing machines.
  • Cut, shape, and smooth wooden parts.
  • Verify dimensions using caliper or ruler.
  • Add fasteners and adhesives and connect the pieces to form a complete unit.
  • Operate specialized pieces of woodworking machinery.
  • Complete all stages of woodworking process.
  • Repair wooden furniture, and other wood products.


High school diploma or GED. Experience in basic or rough carpentry a plus.
