ENGINEERING INTERN

Highwood USA is seeking an Engineering Intern student to assist with manufacturing improvement projects. We are a rapidly growing plastics extrusion company in Hometown PA. The Engineering Intern will assist with design, development, testing, and implementation of equipment upgrades and process improvements. Responsibilities will include coordination of support activities, fabricating of prototypes, interacting with vendors, and monitoring of production trials.

Projects include:

• Implement improvements identified as part of a Lean Pilot Project
• Support development of a new profile bending process
• Assist with development of a new fabrication cell
• Creating CAD drawings of current products

Required Skills:

• Interest in working in a manufacturing facility
• Excellent problem solving and decision making
• High commitment level
• Ability to work independently
• AutoCAD or equivalent 2D CAD software

Education and Experience:

• Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
• Student of Junior or Senior standing

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER
Full Time

Seeking individual to facilitate activities including: process improvement implementation, capital projects management, new product development, and manufacturing work cell startup.

Qualifications: Successful candidate must have a minimum of 4 years experience in manufacturing, Engineering B.S. Degree, and the ability to independently manage multiple objectives. Strong computer, control system, and automation skills a plus.

INDUSTRY MANAGER
Full Time

Seeking individual to manage $14 million market and develop new key OEM accounts.

Responsibilities include: customer relations, new product development, credit & A/R management and inventory planning & control. Highwood has dominant share of pool & spa market with 50 customers across North America. Extensive travel required.

Qualifications: Must have proven record of sales, product mgt, or market mgt; must be detail oriented, diligent on follow-up and have strong business acumen.

PROFILE TECHNICIAN (PT)
Full Time
2nd or 3Rd shift
8 hour shifts Monday - Friday

Responsibilities include:

• Operation of compound and profile extrusion lines from start up through packaging of finished product
• Color and tool changeovers
• Understanding of quality specifications and performance/documentation of quality checks
• Basic maintenance such as inspection, care and cleaning of equipment
• Trouble shooting of equipment and process issues
• Participation in continuous improvement projects/teams
• Complete and accurate documentation of production, scrap, run conditions, and other key data
• Ability to learn and use a computer at a basic level
• Packing, banding and wrapping finished product
• Forklift operation
• Ability to pass color-blindness test

Qualifications: Extrusion Experience a plus. High School Diploma or GED required as well as ability to work well in teams.
